Mystery Bug

I kind of miss bugs. Not the mosquito or pudgy dung fly kind of bugs, na-ah, but the general sound of creatures buzzing around that makes you feel like things are…alive! If you know what I mean.

I found this flying minibeast on our garage door in the spring of 2011 and I still haven’t managed to identify this guy/gal (I dunno). Very frustrating indeed, though I’m sure it’s a very common species and I’m just a failure at pretending to be a field entomologist (I looked it up).

Update: The mystery has been solved, it is in fact a plume moth!

  1. Ureka !!! I think I’ve found it. Check the images for – Plume moth (Emmelina monodactyla).- on the internet. It looks very similar to your photo and is common to Europe. 🙂
